WELCOME TO ST. PAUL'S

+ proclaiming God’s love, + celebrating the image of God in every person, + a house of prayer and service for all.

A Place of Safety

If you are a visitor and feel intimidated, angered or hurt by organized religion, please know that St. Paul’s is a place of safety. Here you will find freedom from spiritual coercion arising from the misuse of divine revelation. Here you will find an unconditional surrender to God’s freedom to speak to your heart in whatever way God may choose, and the space to respond to the promptings of the Spirit as you discern them without threat of control. St. Paul’s offers “sanctuary” to all and promises this freedom to everyone as the necessary ground for exploring the healthy, living faith that only God can awaken.

A Place of Respect

If you are a spiritual seeker and reluctant to join a particular denomination or align yourself with a particular creed, please know that you are welcome at St. Paul’s and that you need not place your name on a membership roll to be taken seriously. Perhaps you dropped by to reconnect in your relationship with God, to pray for a loved one, to surrender a burden, or to find a quiet haven to meditate on a personal dilemma. St. Paul’s would like to offer space to you on your life’s journey. Though you may be approached in welcome, your right to privacy and anonymity will always be respected.

A Place of Connection

If you are visiting and feel that life is fragmenting into shattered, irreconcilable pieces, please know that we understand how fragile life can be. We believe that all aspects of life find unity in God. Yes, at St. Paul’s we are part of a specific religious tradition—the Episcopal Church of the Anglican Communion. This is not because we believe that one religious tradition holds all truth exclusively, but because the journey toward unity is a relational one and must be embodied in supportive relationships. Our companion and guide in this journey is Jesus Christ whom we hold to be the clear manifestation of God’s love for the world and the sign that life is in ultimate unity even beyond the finality of death. Whenever you enter St. Paul’s, this safety, this respect, this striving toward unity is pledged to you. May your time here be a blessing.

The Rev. Emil Belsky
