Adult Formation

About Formation Opportunities

St. Paul’s provides a number of opportunities for adults to participate in formation activities throughout the year. There is normally a series in the fall, another for Advent, and inquirers/newcomers class near the beginning of the year, a Lenten series, and a spring series. People aged 12+ are welcome to join us at any of our formation offerings!

For more information about formation offerings at St. Paul’s, please contact Sofia, our office administrator, or Deacon Alison.

Advent Series: Come thou Long Expected Jesus

‘Come Thou Long Expected Jesus’ is both a promise and prayer. This year’s Advent (and a bit earlier!) series will be on Marcus Borg and John Crossan’s book, The First Christmas: What the Gospels Really Teach about Jesus’ Birth. Borg (of blessed memory) and Crossan were major scholars in the field of ‘historical Jesus studies,’ which has been influential in the Episcopal Church.

The study group will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Church Parlor each Wednesday evening beginning on October 15th. The group will take a break for Thanksgiving weekend. Following each meeting we will meet in the chapel for Compline 8:00-8:15. Join us for the exploration and rich discussion of the gospel story of the birth of our Savior. Contact Will for more information.

Sunday Morning Prayer and Lectionary Discussion

Each Sunday morning, St. Paul’s parishioners gather on Zoom at 8 a.m. to pray Morning Prayer from the BCP and to reflect on the week’s lectionary readings together.

This group is an amazing way to deepen your engagement with the Holy Scriptures and to grow in fellowship with other people at St. Paul’s.

If you’re interested, please contact Sofia in the office for the Zoom link.
